Therwil Flyers capture Title

The Therwil Flyers have won the European Cup Qualifier in Ostrava, Czech Republic. In the final on Saturday the Swiss champion defeated host Arrows Ostrava 10-7. Therwil scored six runs in the last three frames to claim the title. With the ECQ win they have secured a Swiss spot in next year’s CEB Cup.

Originally scheduled for a 2pm start rain pushed the start of the final to 6pm. Both teams didn’t show any rust and scored eight runs in the first three innings for a 4-4 tie. Arrows took the lead in the fifth with a RBI single by Tomas Junec. However Therwil had an answer. It was already known before the last day of the first round at the European Cup Qualifier in Ostrava that the Therwil Flyers and Arrows Ostrava will meet in the finals on Saturday. In the finals preview Ostrava won and secured home field advantage. The winner of the ECQ will qualify for the CEB Cup next year.
